Badshahi Masjid Lahore

This is the mosque built by the Mughal’s. Badshahi Mosque is one of the beautiful historical places in Lahore, Pakistan. The surroundings of this mosque are also attached to many stories. Lahore Fort is the most closed and finest structure situated at the opening of Badshahi Mosque main gate. Badshahi Mosque is the famous landmark of Lahore city . This mosque is old enough to the rule of Mughal Emperors. This mosque in the past was on the entrance of Lahore city. It holds the title of 2nd biggest mosque of Pakistan. This beautiful mosque was built in 1671-1673 by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Badshahi Mosque shows the best combination of architecture and art work as well as reflects the skills and abilities of the past people. Main gate of the Badshahi Mosque opens before the Lahore Fort. In history the mosque had passed from hands of Sikh and British also. Badshahi Mosque is capable of placing more than 5000 Namazi (worshippers) at a time.

There are one main and two joining domes of the mosque. The beautiful domes are the proud of Badshahi Mosque. These domes are constructed with white marble. The minarets of mosque are taller than the minarets of Taj Mahal. There are red bricks and red stone tiles are used in the Mosque. At initial stages the floor of the mosque was consisted on sang-i-Abri in Mussalah form, which later replaced by the marble Mussalah. In the above chamber of Badshahi Mosque main gate, there are belongings of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) in Badshahi Mosque Museum, which also act as the source of attraction for the Muslims.
